1300tourer.com Newsletter #11

Hello fellow members!

With the end of the riding season drawing to a close (for most of us anyway) I figured it was time to get a newsletter out... something I haven't done for a couple months and it is long overdue!

Over the past few months we have seen some server issues which I think are now under control. The long term plan is to get 1300tourer.com migrated to my data center at home. This will give us LOTS of room to grow.

The planning is underway for our 3rd Annual Meet & Greet. Next year we will be meeting in Salida, Colorado. Earlier this year I took a scouting trip to Salida. Everyone who joins us this year is in for spectacular rides, awesome views, and a quiet town that will be welcoming us with open arms. I have a host hotel picked out... a few more items to finalize there and we can start booking rooms (at a greatly discounted rate).

For M&G 2010, I'll be providing lots of recreational options for our members. The riding choices will be plenty - horse, ATV, kayak, raft, and of course your 1300! Downtown Salida is the perfect spot for those wanting to do some shopping. If you enjoy fishing, there are lots of spots. After hours activities will also be available for those that wish to take advantage of them. Like last year, I'll be keeping updated information under the 2010 M&G link on 1300tourer.com.

As many of you know, Riders United is now live. What many of you do not know is that membership is free. Riders United consists of motorcycle riders who are willing to volunteer some of their time to a good cause, and the website will act as a central coordination point for volunteer opportunities and efforts on a global level.

1300tourer.com Newsletter #9

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone made it home safely from our 2nd Annual Meet and Greet. For those of you that couldn't make it, I hope you can next year! We will be heading west to the Rockies. I do not have a location pin pointed at this time, but we have a lot of research ahead of us! I've replaced the 2009 Meet & Greet page with the 2010 Meet & Greet page.

This years gathering was a big learning experience for myself as our 2nd Annual was much bigger than our 1st Annual by all aspects. Logistically, this year was completely different. Chrissy and I took a lot of notes once we arrived home which should make our 3rd Annual Meet & Greet bigger, better, and much more streamlined plus give the attendees many more activity options.

While on the subject, I wanted to especially thank those companies that contributed to our silent auction. If you are in the market for any of the services they offer, please consider giving them your business.

Those of you who attended this year's charity dinner at Mountain Motorsports are now aware that I am in the process of starting a non-profit organization - Riders United LLC. At the moment, we are waiting for the non-profit status from the IRS and building the Board of Directors. This organization will be membership based upon it's launch (scheduled for January 2010). Riders United's focus will be building an online motorcycle community (similar to 1300tourer.com) but with a focus on volunteer and charity work. I will keep everyone updated on the organizations progress.

2009 V-Star 1300T

Here is the 2009 version of our bike, I don`t see much of a difference except for the new color. I see they kept the red which is definitely the best color, Ha Ha !!!

Meet & Greet Thoughts

I don't honestly know where to begin! The rally, in my opinion, was a success! We had around 30 folks show up to the picnic, about 15 bikes on the ride, and 15 joined us for dinner at Famous Dave's! What a fun day,... it felt like a reunion of great friends.

It was so great to meet each and every one of you in person! Something I have been waiting to do for some time now. We have a great group of people here. I reckon I need to keep an eye on Conrad... I didn't see him slip some contributions into my saddle. That is much appreciated... and it will go into the kitty for out next get together.

I got some great compliments on the event... but I couldn't have pulled it off without everyone's help and support. I am already mulling around ideas in my head for next year, but I hope I do not have to wait that long to see everyone again.

Thanks Kaelar for the neat idea... we all had our beverages raised at dinner to those that could not make it.

The event patches were waiting for me on my doorstep when I got home... so I'll be mailing those out soon. If you were at the event, but didn't fill out a ticket (raffle ticket), please email me your address, and I'll get one in the mail to you next week. I'll then have the leftover patches available in the online store for those of you who were there in spirit, but not in person.

Chrissy and I have some neat video clips and photos,... I'll be working on putting together a video that everyone will have access to.

Thanks again everyone for a great day at beaver lake... I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

I'll be posting more on the event soon... right now, I need a nap.

Ride safe everyone... and many thanks!

Will R.
