Yamaha 1300 Tourer - Yamaha 1300 Tourer Fansite

This week end I had a fellow rider tell me that you should always put you motorcycle battery on a trickle charge at least every two weeks or the battery will not last long. I am unsure of this and never heard of this before, is there any truth to this and do I need to purchase one. They are inexpensive so the cost is not the issue......Just never heard this before. Any input would be helpful. I can see this in winter when the weather is cold and you don't ride as much but he says every two weeks all year long???.
