After getting my 1st ride on my 1300 yesterday since November 09, it spurred me to start to fit all my accessories today. Managed to install Jack's O2 mod ok, but never managed the OEM saddlebags :(
Reading the instructions, it says to remove the tail trim, + the saddlebag mounts install on the outside of the OEM sissy bar arms. So, I removed the sissy bar, removed the tail trim then noticed that without the tail trim, the sissy bar doesn't install. Thought about putting a spacer between the fender and sissy bar to fill the gap (but figured if I need the gap provided by the trim I might as well leave it on?). So rebuilt the sides back to how they were & put a thin metal washer + mounts on the outside of the sissy bar arms, BUT the bolts aren't long enough to screw into the fender?!
Am using the bolts supplied with my sissy bar as they're 70mm long (ones with the mounts were 65mm) but still no good. Am I missing something obvious, or do I just need to get longer bolts? (if that's the case why don't Yamaha supply proper bolts?).
Only other thing is my dealer said they had a right pain installing the sissy bar when I bought the bike so maybe they've done something wrong?
Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Graham
