I currently have a Mustang seat on the Keegstar. I love the look of the Ultimate seats in some of the pics in the forum. From just looking they appear to have a little more padding than the Mustang seats. I am curious if anyone has tried them both and has an opinion on which one was more comfortable? I am a big gu, 6' and 260#. I like the Mustang seat, it totally eliminated my back pain with the driver backrest, but the seat itself still leaves me sore at times. Don't get me wrong it is a major improvement over stock, but with the look of the Ultimate seat if it is as comfortable, or more comfortable then I would make the switch and sell the Mustang Seat. Thanks again!
Thank you all for your
Thank you all for your opinions on the Ultimate vs the Mustang seat. I think I am going to try the Ulitimate seat out which means very shortly I will have a three piece Mustang seat set (Drive seat and back rest and passenger pillion) for sale. I'll post it in the classifieds when I get the Ultimate on and know I like it..thanks again.....Mike
had both
I've had the mustang and now the ultimate seat. ( both 3 piece)
Mustang was huge improvement over stock but it moved me forward slightly and made me feel cramped with my lower body riding position. However I had stock bars and I could reach them better. The seat itself was quite firm.
The ultimate seat puts you back to a stock riding position, tougher to reach the stock bars though. The seat is definately more plush. Overall more comfortable for me, but I may have to change bars now.
Wife likes the ultimate pillion better also.

Ultimate seat
Hello Roadtravelled, I had the Mustang seat and the main problem with it for me is that it is wider at the nose and raised me up to where I could not touch the ground. I looked at the Ultimate website and it said it would put you in the same height as the stock. I ordered the Ultimate and it did, my feet were back on the ground, but I will tell you the Ultimate seat is more comfortable than the Mustang. The Mustang is hard compared to the Ultimate. I no longer have a numb butt. My husband also had a Mustang, after sitting on mine he ordered him one, he also is very happy for the change. In my opinion the Ultimate seat is the best. I do not regret the extra money for the Ultimate at all.
I sat on (or should I say
I sat on (or should I say "in") an Ultimate seat this past week. It was on a Honda VTX. I felt like I was sitting in my leather lazyboy. Dang it was nice!!! I am about 5'9" 160lbs. A friend of mine is 6'2" and 280 lbs. He tried the same seat and said it does not feel good to him. He says the "Ultimate seat is made for people with skinny butts". He is looking at getting the HD Electra Glide seat for his Vulcan.
As for me, after doing a 3400 km trip on the stock 1300 seat, the Ultimate seat will be a birthday present to my butt this winter. This is the combination I will likely go for, 3 pc. set, Midrider seat with Passenger seat & Rider backrest - plain - $725. For the amount of times I carry a passenger I really didn't want to go for the Ultimate passenger seat but as they say on the Ultimate web site "Your stock passenger seat will not fit with our new rider seat" This is what I wanted to do. 2 pc. set, Midrider seat with Rider backrest - plain - $515. So I either have to spend the extra $210.00 or take out the passenger seat altogether.

I can't comment on the
I can't comment on the Mustang seat, I have a Corbin with a driver's backrest. The Corbin is very firm, but I don't have butt-burn or lower backache after a long ride. I have a friend in Georgia that has the Ultimate, and says it is the best he has ever had for comfort over all other brands. I went to Arizona bike week in April, and Des from Ultimate seats had his semi-trailer showroom set-up with all of his seats to actually sit on. My impressions were that it was comfortable, but it did seem to hit me under the thighs on the edge of the seat, which, I am sure you most likely have to get used to. Check out the website for Ultimate, and maybe he will be at a bike show near your area.
