Lowrance IWay C500 GPS hook up

Hello All,
Was wondering if anyone has hooked up a Lowrance iway to their ride. I have a C500 that came with wiring to hook up to the car stereo (it has a built in 10 gig MP3 player) and a bike mount. I was hoping to use the supplied wiring to hook it up to the bike. On one end there are the hot & ground wires, on the other end there is the plug that goes in to the GPS and a plug to hook into the aux. port of the car stereo. I'm hoping I can use this plug for a set of helmet speakers to listen to the MP3. It looks the connection for a regular set of head phones.
Does anyone have any experience on hooking one of these up? What would be the best way to hook up the power??? Directly off the battery, to the headlights or some other way?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Kev

I use a Garmin Quest, but I helped my buddy hook up a 500c on his goldwing. Depending on your helmet speakers, you may not have enough volume coming from the aux line from the gps. We just hooked his up to the aux on his bike. You may have to run through some kind of amp to get really good sound quality. The 12v hookups should be no problem, I have run a fused wire directly from the battery up to the front of my bike for 12v accessories. I run my Quest from a cigarette lighter attached to my windshield, and run radar detector and an amp from the 12v wires. Just be sure to fuse any wire you run up. You could splice into the power input to the handlebar light switch, but then the gps would only be on while the engine was running and you would not want to run too many amps from that wire, I used that wire to activate the relays for my driving lights and freeway blaster horns, but main power for such from the fused power wire.
You did not say, but if you do not have the manual, one can be downloaded from:

Hey Tex,
Thanks for the info. I'm going to see if I can hook it up this weekend and see how it works. I'll let you know.
God Bless all Vets! And a personal thank you for your service to the USA!
