Thanks to a kick start [ wonder how many here remember them on motorcycles ? : -) ] from steveducett as well as earlier inspiration from Derek.Vieux; MNeedham73; et al, I just mounted the Kuryakin HD lowers. Honestly, more for the esthetics with anti-buffeting as a possible consequence. I purchased them in Ottawa @ $59.95 [currently that would be about $55.00 USD] yesterday.
I had to drill one hole in each lower [did that with my cordless drill] and started and finished the job while I made a batch of pea soup [from scratch]. Bought and used longer chrome bolts [with chrome washers from the hardware included with the lowers] although I didn’t have to. I put the bottom hole on the lowers to use with a wire tie to the windshield mount that is hardly visible but adds some rigidity. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest degree of difficulty, I’d rate the job a 2.
I’ll post a left and right photo in the image gallery for anyone that wants to see a close-up of the end result.
Count me a happy camper.

Hi everyone - update;
Well I got to try out my Kuryakyn - HD lowers [Kuryakyn part number 1105] and find a definite improvement with the buffeting. I note however [for anyone else contemplating this install] that; with the OEM engine guards and the chaps I have on them I have a slight clearance issue. It’s nothing that concerns me a great deal but I’m about a quarter to half inch short of full steering lock on both sides. Fortunately the lowers have enough give so it’s not a safety issue and I can get to the full lock if I need it.

1106
part #1106 has a notch cut in them for that reason. works well with the cobra guards. i don't understand the oem guard being in the way though. i have a full 3" clearance at full turn.
Hi Butch and thanks. Good to hear from you
Teddy is “Nicolas” and I hadn’t thought about that but your probably right although he’s a tough little guy. With the weather we’re having I don’t know when I’ll get them tested. Hopefully we’ll get a stretch of Indian summer.
Hope all is well in Cook. All the best to you and Jo.
