Went to a local upholstery shop and bought enough scrap gel foam to do both seats. Simple process to remove seat cover, use an electric knife to reshape old foam, glue down and shape gel foam then recover seats. Cost -- less than $20.00 --- No mo monkey butt -- priceless!!!!
1300 v-star backrest
I just installed a grashopper back rest. It looks good and is of quality material but it does not fit me, it pushs me too far forward and I can not sit on my stock seat in a good position. I think I will have to make a new bracket for it. Has anyone had the same problem?
Seat Mod
I recently sent my seat to Spenser's Moto Care in FL. For $75.00 he shapes and adds a gel honey comb. I should have back today will post a review. He has magazine article on his web where he got good reviews. My dealings with have been fantastic, promptly replies to emails with detailed answers to questions and provides updates. His turn time is about 24-36 hours.

Seat Mod update
Got my seat back this morning and took it for a ride after doing the spring mod to cure the clunk. The seat is vastly improved over stock. Think I am really going to like it. It is softer yet firm enough to provide support. Not to mention I feel as though I am sitting in it rather than on it. Give Spencer a try don't think you'll be disappointed. http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php
Disclaimer I am not at all affilliated with Spencer. $100 bucks including shipping beats the heck out of $400 anyday. The money saved on my seat allows me to buy more goodies for my 13.

Seat Mod
Yep, I am still very happy with it. I have had both Corbin and Mustang seats on previous bikes. I believe for the money this spencer seat mod does the trick. IMHO

Airhawk Seat Cushion
I have an airhawk seat cushion on my 1300. It provides 2 great benefits. It sits up higher, allowing me to see over the tall windshield (I also tilted the windshield back), and it is a lot more comfortable. It is the best cushion you will be able to find, without modifying the seat, or purchasing a new seat. I used to get very sore after about 30 minutes of riding. The pain was unbearable, and lasted for a few hours after the ride. Now, I can ride for 1.5 to 2 hours before getting sore. When I do get sore, I just take a short break and my bum recovers (3-4 minutes seems to do the trick), and I can ride for a few more hours. I will be buying one for the passenger seat to make the old woman happy. Check e-bay for good prices, and order the Larger cruiser version. The larger cruiser version covers the stock seat from front to back, but does leave about 2 inches of seat on both sides. It is mostly where the seat starts to curve towards the ground, so I do not think that I am losing much by not having those few inches covered. Be careful to make sure you get the proper size, a lot of the auctions are for "medium' size.

Airhawk Cushion
They are reported to be the best cushion you can buy. But as you noticed, they are pricey.
I'm looking at cushions as well, and will most likely go with gel & foam combo. Found one I liked, but it's out of stock at the moment.
