K&N AIR FILTER

I was searching this site and came across this:

It is for a K&N air filter for our bikes. But if you read closely it is a generic. I went on K&N's web site and they still do not have ours ready. Has anyone tried that filter?

Ditto to what me262le (Larry) said. There have been quite a few who have been waiting for K & N to provide a filter for our bike....they're still waiting. Many continue to go with the Thunder Mfg air kit from Shane, a mod that can change the bike's performance noticeably, usually more so than modifying our stock air box, plus it looks very cool.

DO NOT ORDER - K&N Air Filter - S. Seattle Sports Plaza

Do not order this K&N air filter from S. Seattle Sports Plaza. They will send you a "clamp on" air filter for a HD XR-1000.

Even the air filter image shown on the S. Seattle web site is not correct for our bike. The stock yamaha air filter is a trapezoidal design, but it has a custom cap glued on over the top. Not an open design like the web site image.

I checked thru the K&N inventory online by dimension, and they just do not have a generic replacement. The custom cap is the problem.
