Hello All,
I'm another one of the short guys, 5'-8", and have read a lot of your posts on the advantages of the RSTD bars. Does anyone know the approximate cost of a set? How about installation costs? I'm thinking of installing them myself but if it's not too expensive I may have it done.
Thanks in advance for your input!
Kev
Thanks again guys! I will
Thanks again guys!
I will try the RSTD bars and get the seats before I think about the risers.
I appreciate all the help.
Best Regards & ride safe,

V Star 950 bars
I wonder if the new V Star 950 bars will fit our bike without changing the cables. Compared to the V-Star 1300, the handlebars are pulled back 52mm and 5mm lower...

Thanks Guys. The
Thanks Guys. The instructions are very detailed. Don't think I'll have much problem doing the work myself.
Another question; at 5'9" does anyone know if I'll need the riser kit also? I would like to get a Corbin seat with the backrest and hope to sit back far enough to use the backrest.
Thanks Again!
Kev
Fit should be good.
I have a Corbin dual touring seat with the driver's backrest and the RSTD bars. You should have no issues. The backrest is fully adjustable. I am 6'0" and the reach is perfect for me with the backrest installed near "full-back". The backrest will still move quite a bit forward if I needed it. At your height, you may wind up moving it forward a bit more than me, but you should be fine. I do not have terribly long arms. My shirt sleeve is 34". Here is a side shot of my bike that may serve as a reference for you (don't have the backrest on in this pic). Technically, the bars could be positioned a little further down/back than I have them, but I chose to position so I could continue to use the wiring clips without striking the tank. Reach is good for me. Others have positioned further down and removed the front-most clips from the bars, replacing with a tie-wrap.

Hi David, Great looking
Hi David,
Great looking ride! I especially like the red trim on the seats; it really add a lot.
Thanks for the info. I ordered the RSTD Bars & the grips (with the throttle boss) yesterday, so in a week or two I let you know how it feels.
All the best,
Kev
I'm 6'4"
and have RSTD bars and Mustang seat....The stock bars killed my back and shoulders. My current set up is quite comfortable, even for a big guy. I have done 400 miles without pain................paul
I also have the Mustang seat
I also have the Mustang seat with the RSTD bars. The Mustang moves you forward about 1" compared to the stock and with the additional pull back on the bars it makes for a very comfortable ride. The riser will require you to change cables so I suggest you try only the bars first.

I'm 5'9"
I have the RSTD bars and a Mustang seat. I am very comfortable with this set up. I do not need the risers, in fact I would be worried it would make it worse. Since I am perfect now, I cannot immagine it getting any better. I would change the bars, ride for a while then decide what to do.

Another member posted these instructions. I used the instructions for my change out and the job was much easier than I expected.

RSTD bars
I just got bars and Kury ISO grips from Shane and SS Custom Cycle for about $150. If you have some basic mechanical ability you can do the swap yourself.
