Oil leak

My bike has a oil leak, it is a silver plate with two bolts holding it at the back of the motor behind the oil filter. Took it to the dealer to be fixed I was told it was the weephole for the waterpump, that it was a o ring. replaced o ring now its leaking again, bike only has a 1000 miles on it. Anyone else have this happen? thanks

I had an oil leak in a similar location, it was an epoxy plug that just began seeping oil on the way home from the dealer after a handlebar change. They replaced the cover as I recall.

Here's info from another rider's posting regarding an oil leak he experienced on his 1300 about 3 mos ago:

Ok, my bike spent the day at the dealership where they were finally able to confirm oil was leaking from the strange little plug just behind the first bolt on the bottom of the right side engine cover.The service manager could only guess that it is a hole used during the sand casting process.

Yamaha agrees to make the repair under warranty,but insists on replacing the entire crankcase,not re-plugging the hole,not tapping and bolting the hole,REPLACING THE CRANKCASE!!

Service manager reccommended not taking this route cause as we all know once you take a motor apart its never the same. He suggested using some hi temp epoxy type repair.

I purchased a tube of hi temp epoxy and spackled the accursed plug and let it sit most of the day. This afternoon I took it across town,mostly surface streets,stopped,looked underneath,still clean, so I thought its needs a hi pressure test and I took it on a hard 10 mile freeway ride back to the dealer...and took a look at it there and no leak! I then brought it home and drove it even harder and still it didn't leak.

Mick, I've not experienced any similar issue, nor do I know anyone else who has, therefore I really don't have a value-added comment to make. This is why I chose only to include a past seemingly similar experience.
