Chapter Challenge!

BoomerSooner's picture

Well, for many of us, it's coming that time of year when we have to stop riding and start thinking about..............
riding! What else would we think about? ;)

Yah, the wind in the hair, sun in the face, the roar of the engine while going through the twisties. aah.....
*blinks*

Where was I? Oh yah, Chapter Challenge!

It seems that groups of us are getting together for meet & greets, or just for the fun of riding together, so what I'm proposing is this:

How about we form unofficial chapters? Nothing elaborate, just people coming together with a common interest. Chapters could be organized by state, region, country, age, hair color, or whatever. Hey, there are no rules here, it's all in fun!

Speaking of fun, let's see who can come up with the best logo, name or motto for their chapter. This should give us something to think about over the winter. :)

So, I'll start things off - since I'm in Oklahoma, I'll propose an Oklahoma Chapter.
Here's my stab at a logo, and no laughing! My artistic ability is pathetic and my skills with photoshop aren't any better! I haven't set the bar very high, so I expect to see some talent out there.

Remember, this is all in fun, so collect your buddies and let your imagination run wild!

Boomer,
How do I get the 1300 Tourer image onto a word doc. Cyncrawler is putting together a rather nice looking logo for us AZ riders.
CC

Hey SeeSee Ryder,

What you can do is right-click on the image and save it to your harddrive. The right click on the file and select copy, then inside the word doc just paste.

You may be able to right-click directly on the image, select copy and then paste into the word doc, but I don't know if it would make an actual copy of the image or create a link to the image. In that case you may have to remove the hyperlink to it.

It's just easiest to copy it to your harddrive. That way you can edit it as well to your hearts content.

The 1300 Tourer image

JL,
How do I get the 1300 tourer image onto a word doc? Cyncrawler is putting a logo together for us AZ folks and we could use a hand.

Thanks,
CC

Great Job!

Great job with the logo. Question; however, is that a beaver or an American GI deserter in the lower right hand corner?

Naw

Hey Armydog,

You made me take a second gander at the little guy. But notice the tuque he is wearing. A dead give away he is Canadian.

Besides wasn't it Jimmy Carter who granted a general pardon to all draft dodgers/evaders.

Anyhow, here is my third attempt. I realized the Maple Leaf was facing the wrong direction. If it's gonna be for the western part of the country, the Leaf should be facing west. And there were a few other changes. This one is better but still not perfect. I'll keep working on it...

Organizational Chapters

Hi Boomer... as I said before, I think the idea is great! Now we just need to figure out a way to make it work and how to divide up the chapters... by state/region... there are a few logistics to take into account. With the number of members we have, for example, a northwest chapter could include Idaho, Washington, and Oregon... but as membership grows, these could be subdivided into smaller groups.

Sorry... I've done a bit of brainstorming since you first emailed me about it. Here is my thought in terms of infrastructure regarding 1300tourer.com.

1. Create a new website (http://chapters.1300tourer.com) and have a direct link on 1300tourer.com to it.

2. Establish regional chapters by using a group hierarchy and allow 1300tourer.com members to join/subscribe to the regional chapters. These regional chapters would have their own area on chapters.1300tourer.com for forums, image galleries, etc... related only to their regional chapter.

3. Put in place a subgroup hierarchy that would allow smaller groups to establish their own group areas within the regional chapters group.

It may seem like a little much... but I think the extra effort up front will prevent growing pains in the next few years (if the 1300 stays in production). :)

Anyway... I'll keep thinking and toying with the idea... if any others want to chime in, please do so!

Thanks Steve for your efforts here! We all appreciate them!

Wow

Hey Will,

You have given this a lot of thought! Much more than I ever had in mind!

Thanks for the efforts!

How about a meet and greet

How about a meet and greet for all the local OKC area riders (and anyone else who wants to join the fun). I was thinking along the lines of the Steak and Catfish Barn at I-35 and Waterloo Rd next Saturday afternoon (11-8-2008). Comments??????....................paul
