Bike to Bike Communications

Anyone out there with experience in bike to bike communications? I'm looking to purchase something the wife and I can use to communicate more easily and safely when we're on rides together, and meeting up with larger groups. She rides a Suzuki Volusia and I'm on the 1300.

I've searched the web and there are so many options . . . CB, PTT, VOX, wired, BlueTooth, wireless. Add-in ports for iPods/FM/cell seem cool, but is this overkill? She would like to listen to music . . . I like to listen to my thoughts, the wind, and the rumble of opening it up. We currently wear open face but are considering half HBC helmets. Mighty hot in the summer in FL.

Reviews on the net are lacking or in consistent, but i've probabaly ruled out 'Chatterbox' due to quality and usability concerns in reviews. There's a company out of UK that offer 'police style' talk buttons . . . but everything seems wired and half helmets aren't mentioned. How tough is it to mix units/bike side hardware with other brand headsets?

I'd like to keep the price for both bikes in the $500 range, but unsure.

Have a look at this link. I am seriously looking at this for next spring when my better half gets her bike. They are probably the best value for dollar I have seen. I have a couple of friends who have them. One couple ride 2 up constantly and use them to talk to each other, the other couple ride separate bikes and use them.
They are not enabled to act as a CB so you cannot use them to talk to other bikers.

Hey barneyfc,

I looked at those as well and thought they would work pretty well. My only concern was the relatively short battery time(I wanted to listen to music the whole time) and the inability to re-charge on the road - they had to be docked in the home charger. It's been quite a while since I looked at them, so this may have changed.
