Thunder MFG Air Intakes

I have the Thunder Air MFG Smooth Tear drop, (Vertical) on back order and wonder how it will look and perform vs the round style, which is available now ?

Does either one give more clearance for your leg ? My leg hits the stock air box cover.

Thanks,

Hi Aviator

Another couple of photos of the T.M. vertical tear-drop cover [mounted on “Enterprise”] may be found at www.nrtco.net/~conrad.hof. Also have a couple of photos in the: Image Galleries > User Galleries >Tourvet-27. I love the look and the cover has no effect on performance [tear-drop vs round] as far as I know. You’ll find that you’ll have more leg clearance as the flat cover doesn’t bulge out like the stock intake cover.

I had the vertical smoothie

I had the vertical smoothie teardrop on my 1300 for about 2 weeks. Went with the billet round one instead. (purely aesthetics).
As far as flow, Travis @ thunderair says that the round ones flow the best, but who knows. There's ALOT of filter area in both setups compared to stock.
And, YES, you definitley feel a seat of the pants, (or white knuckle), experience compared to stock setup. EVEN MORE if you put a cobra F1200cl setup on it to take FULL advantage of the MORE free breathing set up.

Thunder Air Intakes

Thanks for the pictures, I like the round one better too and will change my order tomorrow.

I have the Power Commander already installed, can't wait to see the improvement with the new intake. I am staying with the stock exhaust, all the aftermarkets are just too loud for my taste and location.
