I purchased a set only last week, and was thrilled when they arrived - and more so when I saw how great they looked on the bike!
But then I went for a ride and found that I'm just too short for it to be comfortable or practical, and so have been forced to part with them. :-(
They went on the bike yesterday, and will be coming off tomorrow, so they're as new as they get without actually being new! :-)
I've listed them on eBay (you can access it via the link below).

If only my legs were longer...
SOLD!
I got $200 for them on the third listing. So with eBay's extortionate fees, that means I clear around $180 or so overall. That's a fair bit down on the $410 I paid for them, but still better than having them sitting there in the box just being useless. oh well.
I'm actually looking now to sell the bike as well. We just tried to buy a house recently, but got knocked back because the lenders are too skittish due to the global financial situation. As much as I don't want to sell the bike, I should be able to get more than what it actually owes me, and in thereby improve our situation enough to make the house affordable. It means going bikeless for a short while, but it's worth it to be able to get into a house we can finally call our own!
Anyway, I'll post a link once I've got it listed, in case any Australian members know someone who'd like to join the V-Star family. My bike is 7 months old, 2500km on the clock, with passenger backrest and luggage rack fitted, and up to date with its servicing. No dings or scratches, and in exactly the sort of condition you'd expect for a bike that was still on the showroom floor not so long ago. The redbook value is around $14500, but I'll take any offers over $13500 if you tell me you found out about it here.
How much for the bike?
How much for the bike?
Are you in Australia? I
Are you in Australia? I thought you were in the US?
Anyway...I'd be hoping to get around $14000 if I can, but would take $13500.
DANG!
Is the mark up that high down there! My '08 Tourer listed for $11,500 and I got it for $10,000.
I've heard some even beat my price.
I think the Aussie dollar is
I think the Aussie dollar is about 75/85 cents to the US Dollar
It was USD$0.97 only a few
It was USD$0.97 only a few months ago, and then tanked to the low 60s, where it still is now.
The exchange rate is only one of several factors involved in setting prices of bikes here though, not least of which is the very different nature of the bike market in Australia (the very small size of it, for starters). These factors all combine to significantly increase the cost, irrespective of whatever the exchange rate may be.
The list price for the V-Star 1300 is AUD$16499, although I have seen some dealers slightly lower in some places. I should come out of it slightly ahead on what I borrowed, although still behind overall - I got a $4000 trade on my old bike, and the value on the current model in the secondhand market is $14500 at the top end. I've set the auction start price at what I'd need to pay out the loan, but it would be nice to get closer to what it is actually worth, as that would then give some funds either towards the house or the next bike! :-) (not to mention recouping some of the value of my old bike which would otherwise be lost with nothing to show for it.)
I hope
